July's Site of the Month comes from one of our North American customers: Expect Miracles Foundation’s (EMF) Distance Challenge.
Focusing on the financial services industry, the EMF Distance Challenge is a seven-day virtual fitness challenge that took place from May 14-21, 2024. The distance challenge raises vital funds to invest in life-saving cancer research while advancing the financial and emotional health of people impacted by cancer.
This is EMF’s third year on Funraisin and its fifth annual event overall. Since joining Funraisin, the Distance Challenge has seen a 33% increase in participants and a 35% growth in funds raised.
Distance Challenge participants choose to either walk/run or ride, logging their miles or kilometres throughout the week either manually or via connected fitness apps. This year, EMF simplified its registration process for higher conversion and boosted social sharing by utilizing standard Funraisin features like promo codes and Next Steps.
EMF’s analysis of prior years showed that their most competitive participants at the top of their fitness leaderboards did not typically fundraise as much as those with less logged fitness activity. Aiming to reframe goals for their most ambitious participants, EMF introduced a "Total Impact" leaderboard that combines rankings on both the fitness and fundraising leaderboards.
With this revised challenge and the support of corporate partnerships through two matched giving days, the EMF Distance Challenge exceeded its $1 million goal for the first time in the event's history.
